يشرف الرئيس تبـون، اليوم الأحد، على التدشين الرسمي لجامع الجزائر، بحضور شخصيات دينية إسلامية من عدة دول.
للإشارة ، جامع الجزائر تعلوه واحدة من أطول المنارات في العالم، ويبلغ علوها 267 مترا ليصبح بذلك اكبر جامع في افريقيا وثالث أكبر مسجد في العالم بعد المسجد الحرام بمكة المكرمة والمسجد النبوي الشريف في المدينة المنورة.
كما أن جامع الجزائر يضم قاعة الصلاة تتسع لـ 120,000 مصل ومدرسة عليا للعلوم الاسلامية او دار القرأن المتخصصةفي الدكتوره ، ومركزا ثقافيا اسلاميا وفندقا.
إضافة الى 12 بناية ومكتبة تتسع لألفي طالب وتتوفر على مليون كتاب وقاعة محاضرات ومتحف للفن التاريخ الاسلامي ومركزا للبحث في تاريخ الجزائر . إضافة إلى موقف سيارات ومساحة خضراء ومرافق اخرى.
